Nik Dean Launches Campaign for House District 38
Maitland, FL – Last week, Democratic candidate Michelle DeJesus made the decision to withdraw her name from the ballot in Florida State House District 38.
Today, local attorney, husband, and father Nikolas “Nik” Dean announced the launch of his campaign to give the people of Seminole County the practical leadership they have earned.
“Helping people has always been my passion, so when Michelle made the decision to withdraw from the ballot, I knew I couldn’t sit on the sidelines while people in our community continue to suffer under the state’s affordability crisis,” stated Nik Dean. “Despite Floridians working harder than ever, it is becoming more and more difficult to keep up with the rising cost of living. Hard work alone is not enough when costs of everyday items like groceries, gas, housing, healthcare, and insurance continue to outpace the workers in our state’s wages. I’m running to put politics aside and focus on what really matters: delivering practical solutions that lower everyday costs, raise wages, and make our communities safe and affordable.”
“First, I want to thank Michelle DeJesus for having the courage to step up and run, and I wish her all the best as she returns to private life,” said Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried. “Floridians are looking for leaders who will put their needs first, not corporate special interests that keep raking in record profits while the cost of living goes through the roof. Nik Dean understands what working families are up against because he’s living it too, and I know he’ll fight like hell for his community when he’s elected in November.”
“Democrats are running candidates up and down the ballot who reflect the communities they’re seeking to serve and Nik Dean is the right person to represent Seminole County in the Florida House,” declared House Democratic Leader-Designate Christine Hunschofsky. “Nik has my full support because while costs continue to rise, he has the vision, drive, and practical solutions necessary to help working families and seniors who have suffered while the Republican majority in Tallahassee has focused on the needs of their corporate donors instead of the people they were elected to serve. I look forward to the great campaign he’s going to run and look forward to welcoming him to the Democratic caucus this fall.”
“I am so grateful to the incredible supporters who helped to power my campaign, but after having made the difficult decision to withdraw my candidacy, I am incredibly excited that Nik Dean has stepped up to finish the job,” stated Michelle DeJesus. “Our campaign was about focusing on the real needs of our community who keep trying to stretch a paycheck further each month while the politicians in Tallahassee ignored how the affordability crisis was crushing working families and seniors. Nik has the right priorities and he’ll get the job done for our community which is why I will be helping him to victory in whatever way I can over the rest of his campaign.”
