Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried Honors the Life and Legacy of Gloria Steinem

Tallahassee, FL — On Thursday, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried released the following statement on the passing of feminist icon and Ms. Magazine co-founder Gloria Steinem, who died Wednesday at age 92:

“Gloria Steinem didn’t just fight for women’s rights, she changed what was possible for every woman in America. From co-founding Ms. Magazine to leading the fight for reproductive freedom, equal pay, and a woman’s right to control her own future, her work reshaped this country for the better.

“That work isn’t finished, and nowhere is that clearer than in Florida, where we’re fighting every day to restore the reproductive freedom she spent her life defending. We won’t back down. Not now, not ever.

“Gloria Steinem’s voice may be gone, but the movement she built is not going anywhere. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and the countless women and men she inspired.”
